Commissioner of oaths
A Commissioner of Oaths is someone authorized to administer oaths, affirmations and solemn declarations for people making affidavits or statutory declarations. In Paul ’s office, there are three: Paul, as your Member of Provincial Parliament, Jason White and Todd White.
Paul, Todd and Jason serve as Commissioners of Oaths for the purposes of witnessing certain legal documents, including vehicle transfers, deeds, insurance claims and Canada Pension Plan documents. As well, they can certify documents such as birth, death and marriage certificates as ‘true’ copies. However, the commissioner is not a ‘Notary Public’ and cannot sign any documents which require the certification of a Notary Public.
